Just In: Brazilian Judge Suspends Elon Musk’s X Over Legal Dispute

A Supreme Court justice in Brazil has decided to suspend social media platform X, (formerly known as Twitter) from the country after the platform failed to appoint a legal representative within the last 24-hour deadline set by the court.

Judge Alexandre de Moraes has instructed the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) to block access to X in Brazil within the next 24 hours.

In addition, the judge has instructed Apple and Google to remove X from their app stores within the next five days and also imposed a daily fine of R$50,000 ($8,000) on any Brazilian who tries to bypass the ban using VPNs or other methods.

This legal dispute started when Moraes criticized the platform for fostering a “lawless land” in Brazil and accused it of spreading hate speech and anti-democratic content.

In response to this, Elon has taken to X to accuse the Brazil government of oppression and even called Judge Alexandre de Moraes an “Evil Dictator”
