The crypto community seems happy with Elon Musk’s recent move to takedown crypto spam bots on Twitter. The crypto community has reported a sharp drop in the number of bots responding to their tweets as a result of Elon Musk’s most recent attack in his campaign against cryptocurrency spam bots on Twitter.
Musk teased that “bots are in for a surprise tomorrow” via a tweet on December 11. Later, he said that the platform will be blocking the IP addresses of “known bad actors” after identifying a small group of individuals responsible for a large number of bot/troll accounts.
He explained that while scammers may try various strategies to get around the IP address block, Twitter will “take them down as soon as they show up.”
Speaking on the matter, Ethereum Co-founder Vitallik Buterin said that, “Twitter *seems* to be marginally better to use lately,” he couldn’t tell if there had been a reduction in bots due to Musk’s action or not. He stated that he had no idea how to distinguish between the work Elon had done, Crypto-Winter, and his own brain’s imagined modifications.
Many Twitter users have reported that the bot responses still show up on posts but are very quickly removed by the platform.
Musk also hinted in his most recent tweet that the company plans to sue Twitter scammers in the future, but he provided no further information.
