In Brief:
- NYDIG has created a Bitcoin Savings Plan offering a benefits package to prospective employees.
- A Bitcoin Savings Plan allows employees to convert a portion of their paycheck to Bitcoin.
- Bitcoin will be held in NYDIG’s cold storage with no transaction or storage costs.
The NYDIG, or New York Digital Investment Group, has created a benefits scheme that allows employees of member companies to convert a percentage of their wages into Bitcoin.
Employees who participate in the Bitcoin Savings Plan can choose what proportion of their pay they want to automatically convert to bitcoin, which is then held in NYDIG’s cold storage system with no transaction or storage costs.
A Bitcoin Savings Plan is a fascinating employee benefit that allows you to convert a portion of your paycheck to bitcoin. Bitcoin is stored on the same safe, regulated NYDIG infrastructure that some of the world’s largest institutions and corporations utilise today.
Companies owned by former NFL player Drew Brees, who will also use a Bitcoin Savings Plan to convert a portion of his income to bitcoin, are among the first to provide the perk. Several companies Drew is involved with will also be making the optional benefit available including Everbowl and StretchZone.
“For a long time, bitcoin was pretty intimidating for me. The more I have immersed myself in the understanding of money, long-term value, and the history of finance, the importance of bitcoin became apparent,” said Brees. “That’s why I am using NYDIG, a trusted leader in bitcoin, to allocate a portion of my salary to BTC every payday.
The BTC payment plan, according to NYDIG Chief Innovation Officer Patrick Sells, is designed to allow firms to offer a benefits package to prospective employees who are interested in “safeguarding their financial futures.”
Workers of the Houston Rockets and corporate employees of restaurant behemoth Landry’s will be eligible for the benefit, which will be provided by Fertitta Entertainment controlled by hospitality magnate Tilman Fertitta. Houston Rockets already partnered with NYDIG in November to pay team players and members in Bitcoin.
“Offering cutting-edge incentives, such as a Bitcoin Savings Plan, allows us to recruit and retain some of the top talent in the industry,” stated Tilman Fertitta, Owner, and CEO of Fertitta Entertainment.
Last year, Crypto Exchanges Strike and Coinbase debuted comparable programmes, but neither required an employer to sign up for a worker to use them. The Bitcoin Savings Plan offered by NYDIG, on the other hand, necessitates employer participation.
