Bitgo Adds Custody Support For Flare And Songbird

BitGo, the largest digital asset custodian, is now Live with Flare (FLR) and its canary network Songbird (SGB), providing institutional clients with qualified custody and self-custody solutions through hot and cold wallets. This move extends BitGo’s reputation as the most comprehensive provider of secure digital asset infrastructure and comes as Flare emerges as a powerful Layer 1 blockchain focused on real-world data, interoperability, and intelligent applications.

Flare, an EVM-compatible network and a top 100 asset by market cap, introduces a suite of innovations, including the Flare Time Series Oracle, FAssets, and the Flare Data Connector—all designed to bridge on-chain systems with off-chain data, assets, and compute. Future updates such as verifiable off-chain computers are designed to open the door to decentralized AI and more sophisticated DeFi applications.

Songbird (SGB), the live testing network of Flare, carries the same capabilities with additional options that allow developers to test new features in a live economic setting. It is an important testing ground during the innovations that will be incorporated in Flare mainnet.

Since SGB is accessible for both self-custody and qualified custody, institutions can experiment and use early Flare features without risking compliance or security. BitGo’s roadmap includes further integration with Flare’s token standards, Wrapped Flare (WFLR) delegation, and native staking, expected later this year.

“Partnering with BitGo is a major step in Flare’s institutional evolution,” said Flare CEO Hugo Philion. “Their regulatory strength and secure infrastructure align perfectly with our vision.” As demand for data-rich, decentralized systems grows, BitGo’s move provides institutions a trusted on-ramp into Flare’s fast-evolving ecosystem.
