Zksync Suffers Major Outage For 5 Hours On Christmas Day

ZkSync revealed on an X post on Friday that it is set to introduce its v24 upgrade, aiming to enhance the decentralization of its protocol. This development is part of an ongoing effort to shift control over the network to its user community by the end of this summer.

The platform, established in 2019, utilizes zero-knowledge roll-up technology to offload data storage off-chain, thereby reducing transaction costs significantly.

The v24 upgrade is cited as the last necessary update before governance can be transitioned to the community. ZkSync mentioned that the remaining components required for this transition are expected to be finalized by the end of June.

Following the announcement of the upcoming upgrade, speculation has grown regarding a potential airdrop from ZkSync, which is anticipated as early as this June. In the previous year, investors transferred over $8 million in cryptocurrencies to the Layer 2 solution.

The anticipation of this airdrop has been building since last March, with traders eagerly awaiting the official rollout of the upgrade, which could pave the way for the event. The official confirmation and details of the airdrop, however, remain forthcoming from ZkSync as the community looks forward to the next steps post-upgrade.
