Gucci to Accept Cryptocurrency Payments in U.S. Stores

The legendary high-end fashion house Gucci is going to start accepting cryptocurrency payments in some of its US stores later this month, with plans to do the same in all of its North American stores this summer.

According to a Vogue Business report, Rodeo Drive in LA, Phipps Plaza in Atlanta, Wooster Street in New York, The Shops at Crystals in Las Vegas, and Miami Design District, will be the first stores to accept crypto payments.

Customers will be able to make in-store crypto payments by clicking on a link sent to them through email. The link contains a QR code that allows them to make the payment from their crypto wallet.

Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Wrapped Bitcoin, Litecoin, Shiba Inu, Dogecoin, and five stablecoins pegged to the US dollar, are the currencies that will be accepted in the Gucci stores.

Marco Bizzarri, Gucci President and CEO stated “Now that we are able to integrate cryptocurrencies within our payment system, it is a natural evolution for those customers who would like to have this option available to them.”

Gucci is taking another step towards integrating its brand with its burgeoning Web3 initiatives by accepting crypto payments. In February, Gucci acquired virtual land in The Sandbox platform to develop its own fashion metaverse platform that will feature Gen Z-focused platform Gucci Vault.

Gucci is not the first luxury brand to have begun accepting crypto payments. Italian fashion brand Off-White announced to accept crypto payments in March. The brand accepts Bitcoin, Ethereum, Binance Coin, Ripple, stablecoins Tether and USD Coin for now.
