In Brief:
- Former U.S. President Donald Trump called crypto ‘a very dangerous thing.’
- Trump didn’t explain why he thinks crypto is risky.
- The former president stated the only currency he wants is the dollar.
Former US President Donald Trump is not a big admirer of cryptocurrencies, as he indicated throughout his presidency. In a recent interview with Fox Business, Trump reiterated his opposition to crypto, calling it a “very dangerous thing.”
Donald Trump stated that cryptocurrencies have never appealed to him. Trump, like many other critics, didn’t go into great detail to explain why he believes investing in those assets is risky.
The former POTUS stated, “Well, I never loved it, because I like to have the dollar, I think the currency should be the dollar, so I was never a big fan. But it’s building up bigger and bigger, and nobody’s doing anything about it.”
“Trump went on to mention the expansion of crypto, “I don’t want all of these others, and that could be an explosion someday the likes of which we’ve never seen. It’ll make the big tech explosion look like baby stuff. I think it’s a very dangerous thing.”
Trump may have avoided dipping into the swiftly developing sector, but his wife, Melania Trump, has taken a different route.
The former First Lady of the United States has already announced the launch of her NFT platform on the Solana blockchain. Melania Trump’s debut into the NFT field has sparked a flurry of debates and conversations, but despite his personal doubts, Trump praised his wife’s NFT vision.
“She’s going to do great … She got a great imagination. And people love our former first lady, I can tell you that. They really do, they love her,” Trump added.
The US Dollar is everything to Trump, and he has been extremely vocal about it since becoming President of the United States. Trump had previously referred to Bitcoin as a “scam” in June.
