Pepsi announces their entry into the innovative and expanding world of NFTs with the Pepsi Mic Drop genesis NFT collection. 

Pepsi is developing 1,893 tokens to represent Pepsi’s birth year with unique generative-style NFTs that will be live on the Ethereum blockchain on Friday, December 10 at 12:00 PM EST, and will be available to users for free. 

The Pepsi Mic Drop genesis NFT collection’s exclusive generative traits, which are generated randomly by an algorithm to ensure that each NFT is completely unique and different. It also pays homage to the brand’s storied history in music as well as the suite of Pepsi flavours that have captivated unapologetic cola-loving consumers for decades.

Legendary Pepsi flavours like traditional blue Pepsi, silver Diet Pepsi, scarlet Pepsi Wild Cherry, black Pepsi Zero Sugar – even fan-favorite Crystal Pepsi – and many more will be inspired by the Pepsi Mic Drop NFTs.

Pepsi’s Vice President of Marketing, Todd Kaplan, stated, “Pepsi has always been a brand with a strong heritage in music and pop culture, so it’s only fitting for us to bring that legacy into the new world of NFTs with a ‘mic drop’ of epic proportions.”

He further stated, “we created the Pepsi Mic Drop genesis NFT collection for our fans, putting their interests and needs at the forefront by ensuring the NFTs are all free of charge and presented equitably as an inclusive and accessible opportunity for anyone to experience the exciting world of NFTs.”

Before this launch by Pepsi, the long time competitor of Pepsi, Coca Cola teamed up with Tafi, a startup that specialises in digital art and avatars, to launch its first collection of NFTs.

The firm is establishing a waitlisting mechanism at the outset of the user experience to ensure that consumers have a more equitable experience with more reasonable gas expenses and secure participation. 

On Friday, December 10 at 12:00 p.m. EST, the Pepsi Mic Drop wallet waitlist will start on micdrop.pepsi.com.

Consumers who have been authorised for the waitlist will be able to mint one of 1,843 Pepsi Mic Drop NFTs for free on Tuesday, December 14 at 12:30 p.m. EST (not including Ethereum gas fees). Consumers should keep an eye out for the remaining 50 NFTs, which will be used for other intriguing projects in the near future.

The token will be minted and given directly to the consumer’s wallet once they have been authenticated.

Consumers can identify their specific Pepsi Mic Drop NFT at any time and list it on OpenSea or any other third-party website as long as they follow the platform’s terms of service.

Pepsi is implementing a carbon offset scheme for the introduction of the Pepsi Mic Drop NFT to assure a net carbon footprint of zero, in keeping with the Pepsi brand’s thought leadership in innovative marketing strategies.

Another food chain firm, McDonald’s, released a limited number of NFTs in the United States to mark McRib’s 40th anniversary. McDonald’s began giving away free McRib NFTs as digital representations of the sandwich on Twitter on November 1st.
