One of the founders of ‘Authentic Artists’, Chris Mcgarry gives an interview with Rolling Stone Japan outlining his vision for the company, the work they have done until now, and the new genre of AI composed music along with generative NFTs.
To give a little background, Authentic Artists is the parent company of WarpSound, WVRPS. WarpSound is an interactive, AI-powered collective that has been backed by several powerful people and well-known artists.
In the interview, Chris explains the idea and mission behind WarpSound. He says they use “cutting edge deep learning and game engine technologies to make new virtual artists, social music experiences and music-driven collectibles for virtual worlds.” Their mission is to help people reconnect with music.
He considers WarpSound to be the “first truly metaverse-native music company” since both their music and content are created digitally.
With “9,999 distinct pieces of visual trait-driven music composed, produced, and mastered note-by-note by an AI-driven audio engine,” WarpSound set out to create something fresh and different.
WarpSound garnered support from creators like Mike Shinoda, Flosstradamus, Gramatik, and even Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg aka Cosmo de’ Medici said that they “could be the next Bored Ape Yacht Club”.
Chris introduces his team which has Andy Poon as an original art creator, and DJ Dragoon, Nayomi, Gnar Heart as original creators and a plethora of other people and supporters. Chris expresses that his team truly does have “musical machine hearts” and that they would love to keep expanding.
Chris elaborates the roadmap of WVRPS and outlines the airdrop of their Bored Ape Yacht Club musical mutant, GLiTCH and their WVRPS remix contest with Audius as his favorite items. He does not reveal much saying that he’d like to keep the upcoming things a surprise.
Chris expresses how the company wants to create a community that supports “self-expression, discovery, and a deeper connection with music and each other”.He also disclosed that they will enable the community to build together in 2022.
The interview ends with him giving a message to music creators saying “embrace that tradition, take risks, find like-minded collaborators, and experiment with new tools and technologies. We can’t wait to see–and hear–what you make with them!”
