Plasma Unveils Stablecoin Neobank Before $2B Mainnet Launch

Plasma, a blockchain technology firm, has introduced a new stablecoin-native neobank called Plasma One, combining a financial app and card product. The launch precedes the company’s $2B mainnet launch on September 25, which is projected to handle up to $2B in stablecoin deposits.

The neobank is described as a consumer-facing extension of the Plasma protocol, which aims to simplify stablecoin usage in regions where dollar demand is high and banking infrastructure lags behind. According to the company statements, the card is designed to support stablecoin activity in markets such as Istanbul, Buenos Aires, and Dubai, where demand for digital dollars intersects with limited access to traditional financial services.

The application combines decentralized finance (DeFi) functions with conventional payment features, offering:

  • Annual returns above 10% on eligible stablecoin balances
  • Up to 4% cashback through virtual and physical cards
  • Fee-free USD₮ transfers within the platform
  • Card usability in over 150 countries
  • Immediate issuance of a virtual card following onboarding

The interface seeks to simplify access to stablecoins by consolidating functions typically spread across wallets, exchanges, and third-party services.

A neobank built for stablecoins

Plasma One is built on the company’s native infrastructure, vertically, enabling integrated testing and consistent optimization across its payments, liquidity, and DeFi components.

In its launch, the firm stated that its objective is to “build the most efficient rails in global finance,” identifying stablecoins as a scalable alternative to legacy systems. The product consolidates saving, spending, and transfer tools into a single environment, aiming to lower barriers to dollar-based digital finance.

Longer term, the underlying infrastructure will be made available to external developers. Wallet providers, financial institutions, and fintech firms will be able to build on what the company refers to as a hardened, production-ready foundation for stablecoin-powered applications.

Connected to $XPL and mainnet momentum

The app also serves as a distribution channel for the broader ecosystem built around XPL, Plasma’s native token. With the mainnet beta launching September 25, Plasma will release 10% of token supply via public sale, alongside 25 million tokens for early depositors and 2.5 million for Stablecoin Collective members.

XPL supports governance, validator incentives, and network coordination. As the protocol broadens into payments and commerce, the token underpins efforts to drive stablecoin adoption and integrate digital dollars into everyday finance.
