Wisdomtree Rolls Out Tokenized Private Credit Fund On Ethereum, Stellar

WisdomTree, a leading global financial innovator, launched its new digital fund, the WisdomTree Private Credit and Alternative Income Digital Fund (CRDT), on September 12.

According to the press release, the launch provides access to private credit investments through a tokenised structure, targeting both retail and institutional investors. Investors can access the fund through the WisdomTree Prime and WisdomTree Connect platforms.

The CRDT fund is designed to track the Gapstow Private Credit and Alternative Income Index (GLACI), much like WisdomTree’s HYIN ETF. It provides investors with daily liquidity and transparency, effectively connecting traditional finance with blockchain technology.

When it goes live, CRDT tokens will be available on Ethereum as well as Stellar, with a minimum investment of $25. In contrast, the redemptions may take longer and follow a T+2 evacuation, while subscriptions will provide prompt completion (T+0).

Broadening access to private credit

Furthermore, big banks have traditionally controlled the $1.6 trillion private credit sector. CRDT seeks to open to crypto-native investors by offering regulated, blockchain-based exposure, the firm confirmed on X.

“CRDT unlocks access to one of the most coveted asset classes – alternatives – directly onchain,” said Will Peck, Head of Digital Assets at WisdomTree. “We’re giving crypto-native investors the chance to diversify via exposures that were once reserved for institutions.”

Jeremy Schwartz, WisdomTree’s Global Chief Investment Officer, highlighted the fund’s income potential. “For four years, we’ve made this space accessible through our ETF, and now CRDT delivers yield in a modern, tokenized fund,” he said.

Merging traditional finance with Web3

The fund puts its money into a diverse range of closed-end investment companies (CEFs), business development companies (BDCs), and real estate investment trusts (REITs). These types of assets can offer appealing income opportunities, but they also come with risks related to credit quality, market fluctuations, and real estate values.

By utilizing blockchain technology, WisdomTree boosts efficiency and builds trust. Still, there are some risks associated with blockchain, including fraud, network congestion, and cybersecurity issues that we need to keep in mind.

CRDT is merging traditional finance with Web3. It gives investors access to private credit opportunities while maintaining regulatory safeguards.
