Ripple Co-Founder Moves $26M Xrp To Coinbase. Is He Selling?

Chris Larsen, the co-founder of Ripple, has sent $26 million worth of XRP to the crypto exchange Coinbase. This has triggered rumors that he is selling his tokens since similar big transfers to exchanges in the past have signaled to future sales.

Since the start of 2025, Larsen has transferred a total of 106 million XRP, valued at around $344 million, to other wallets and exchanges. He is an important personality in the cryptocurrency space. Although he resigned as the CEO of Ripple in 2016, he is still the executive chairman of the company.

His wallets hold approximately 2.6 billion XRP, valued at around $8.3 billion. Larsen is also involved in politics, contributing millions of XRP to Democratic efforts, such as $1 million to aid Kamala Harris in 2024.

The timing is notable for this major movement, as XRP has recently surged in price. It’s now trading at $3.25, which is up 32% over the last week and approximately 9% in the last 24 hours. Even so, the price is more than 16% lower than its all-time high of $3.84, reached in January 2018. The rally occurs when a general crypto market boom is underway, led by Bitcoin reaching a new record of $122,838.

Ripple and Circle recently applied for U.S. National Trust Bank charters, hinting at moving toward greater regulation and integration into the traditional financial system. Additionally, Webus International, a Chinese company, announced plans to build a $300 million XRP treasury.
