Openai’s Sam Asks Elon Musk To Put America First In Doge

Two major figures, Elon Musk and OpenAI CEO Sam Alrman, are clashing on X about the recently launched project called “Stargate.”

Recently, Sam Alman said that Elon Musk’s last criticism of the Stargate Project funding is false. He also invited him to visit the project’s first site, which is already under construction. The site is part of OpenASI’s plan to develop advanced AI infrastructure in the United States.

Stargate aims to build an advanced data center across the U.S. for OpenAI’s AI system. It plans to raise $500 billion from investors like SoftBank and Middle Eastern AI fund MGX.

Previously, Musk said that SoftBank, a financial partner of the project, had “well under $10B secured,” casting doubt on the feasibility of the proposed $500 billion investment.

Altman also took a diplomatic yet sharp tone, saying this project is “great for the county.” He said that what benefits the county might not always align with Musk’s company interests, hinting at  Tesla, SpaceX, or other ventures.

He urged Musk, in his role with the government task force DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), to prioritize what’s best for the U.S. Altman referenced Musk’s growing influence in technology and national strategy, expressing hope it would benefit the country.

Musk is involved with a government task force, DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), which aims to cut federal spending. President Trump recently backed this commission, though it’s facing legal challenges.

Both OpenAI and xAI are competing for resources to develop their AI systems. Musk’s xAI reportedly spent $12 billion on a single data center in Memphis, Tennessee, and may need billions more to upgrade it.
