Poilievre Might Introduce Bitcoin Reserve If Elected Pm In Canada

Pierre Poilievre, the leader of Canada’s Conservative Party, has been making waves with his Bitcoin advocacy, sparking speculation that he could establish a “Strategic Bitcoin Reserve” if he becomes the next Prime Minister.

As Justin Trudeau’s departure from office appears more likely, the door may open for Poilievre to take the reins of Canada’s government, potentially paving the way for pro-Bitcoin policies.

Polymarket odds suggest Poilievre has an 89% chance of becoming the next Prime Minister, with his closest rivals trailing far behind. The shift in political leadership coincides with a surge in support for Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation, something Poilievre has long championed.

His outspoken stance on Bitcoin, including his belief that it could help Canadians “opt out of inflation,” has gained attention, especially as the digital currency’s value has skyrocketed.

Poilievre’s Bitcoin-friendly approach gained further traction in 2022 when he made headlines by purchasing shawarma with Bitcoin, highlighting his commitment to using digital assets in everyday life.

He has also been vocal against central bank digital currencies, even stating that there would be “NO Central Bank Digital Currency” under his leadership.

BTC Inc. CEO David Bailey recently fueled speculation, suggesting that Poilievre’s leadership could bring a national Bitcoin reserve to Canada. This idea mirrors similar proposals from US figures like Donald Trump, who also discussed the possibility of a Bitcoin reserve.

As the Canadian political landscape shifts, Poilievre’s pro-Bitcoin stance may become a key factor in shaping the country’s financial future, with many in the crypto community hopeful that Canada could soon embrace a more Bitcoin-friendly approach.
