US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Indian American entrepreneur and venture capitalist Sriram Krishnan as the Senior White House Policy Advisor on Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The announcement came on Sunday, highlighting Krishnan’s extensive experience in tech, having led product teams at major companies like Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, and SnapChat.

Krishnan will work closely with David O. Sacks, who has been named White House AI & Crypto Czar, to ensure the U.S. maintains its leadership in AI innovation.
Krishnan’s role will focus on shaping AI policy across the government, collaborating with the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. In his announcement, Trump emphasized Krishnan’s strong foundation, having started his career as a founding member of Windows Azure at Microsoft.
Expressing his excitement about the appointment, Krishnan said, “I’m honored to serve our country and help ensure continued American leadership in AI.” His appointment has received strong support from the Indian American community.
Sanjeev Joshipura, executive director of Indiaspora, congratulated Krishnan, calling him an insightful thinker in the AI space. He also praised Krishnan’s ability to blend technology, international affairs, and public policy.
As Krishnan steps into this influential role, he is expected to play a pivotal part in shaping the future of AI policy in the United States, helping to keep the country at the forefront of technological advancements.
