Bored Ape Yacht Club and Otherside metaverse creator Yuga Labs announced it acquired famous NFT artist Mike Winkelmann aka Beeple’s NFT startup WENEW Labs, and its flagship NFT collection, 10KTF, to its Yugaverse.
According to the announcement, Michael Figge, co-founder and former CEO of WENEW, will join Yuga’s leadership team as the Chief Content Officer, and Beeple will serve as an advisor.
Apart from Beeple and Figge, over 20 WENEW staff will transfer to Yuga, bringing the total number of full-time employees at Yuga to more than 100 globally.
10KTF NFT collection’s world-renowned “digital artisan” Wagmi-san from Tokyo has already been hinted to be included in the Otherside Metaverse game in the future.
Greg Solano, the co-founder of Yuga Labs, stated, “Storytelling and world-building are foundational at Yuga and I’m thrilled that we get to work with the creative mind hive at WENEW in a much more robust way. The possibilities of what we can do together are endless.”

Meanwhile, Figge added, “We built this company with Storytelling at the forefront. Yuga’s first-class contributions to story, experiences, and community were a huge inspiration. Their principles of openness inspired the interoperability of 10KTF. We’re excited to join Yuga and continue building amazing things in NFTs and web3 together.”
Beeple is expanding his presence in the NFT space with various initiatives. Last month, Beeple teased a physical studio that will be an outlet for not just his artwork but the entire digital art and NFT community.
