Dirt Closes $1.2 Million In Funding To Build Web3 Ecosystem

The entertainment and culture newsletter, Dirt, announced that it has raised $1.2 million in a funding round in order to build its Web3 media ecosystem. Dirt became one of the first newsletters to fund itself entirely using NFTs.

The round was headlined by Collab + Currency, and other participants were Offline Adventures, Flamingo DAO, Spice Capital, Unicorn DAO and Matt Hackett.

Kyle Chayka and Daisy Alioto co-founded Dirt last year, and partnered up with NFT platform Mirror, and started selling content as NFTs. Dirt gained about $20,000 in NFT sales in its first day, as per Axios writer Sara Fischer.

Dirt is aiming towards bringing more people into DirtDAO and Dirt’s readership, creating a system for DAO-generated content. Dirt also wants to expand the community powered by NFTs and tokens by the end of 2022.
