- Vechain announces the upgrade of its mainnet to PoA 2.0.
- The upgrade occurred at the block height of 10,653,500.
- The PoA 2.0 upgrade aims to be more scalable and eco-friendly.
The leading blockchain platform, Vechain, announced the upgrade of its VeChainThor mainnet to PoA 2.0 on a block height of 10,653,500.
The PoA 2.0 upgrade is expected to enhance several aspects of network security and key operations while also making it more eco-friendly.
PoA’s goal is to build green technologies and businesses on a scale never seen before on a blockchain as it consumes less energy and emits very little carbon.
The new upgrade, according to VeChain, is the “world’s greenest consensus to drive mass adoption.”
“The VRF-based source of randomness, a committee-based block producing process and, a passive block finality confirmation process” are the three main elements in the PoA 2.0 consensus mechanism.
The VeChain Foundation claims that the PoA 2.0 upgrade will combine data security, high throughput, and scalability.
Vechain went on to say that PoA 2.0 is necessary to meet the demands of future blockchain applications as well as rising global demand.
The Foundation also stated that it combined the Byzantine Fault Tolerance and the Nakamoto blockchain consensus mechanisms in this hard fork.
The VeChain team didn’t forget to thank the developers and the VeChain community following the upgrade.
Just last week, Cronos announced the launch of its mainnet beta in partnership with Crypto.com. The mainnet beta launch marks the first Cosmos EVM chain, connecting the network to Ethereum-based digital assets.
