The UAE is all set to open the first Metaverse hospital, catering to medical tourism.
Healthcare provider, Thumbay group is working on this Medical Metaverse project. This metaverse hospital will be a fully functional virtual hospital where the patients can visit using their avatars.
Dr. Thumbay Moideen, the founder and president of Thumbay group, recently said, “We are already working on it and expect it to launch before October this year. This will be a complete virtual hospital where people will come with an avatar and consult with the doctor.”
In order to help long-term care patients who have been bedridden for at least six months, or who are paralysed, Thumbay Group offers augmented reality and virtual reality metaverse technology. This impressive technology comes as a saviour as patients would be able to access their homes through this giving them a hope of returning back to their homeland.
Dr. Thumbay Moideen also stated,“The hospital is giving them AR and VR headsets so that they can see their homes. This motivates long-term care patients and gives them hope that they can go back to their country.
The hospital system will incorporate artificial intelligence, and a new feature will recognise every patient’s face and detect their car number plate as they enter the hospital, with their files already open and waiting for them at the front desk.
Even the staff at the hospital has been trained by the UAE healthcare organisation on how to handle the patients in Metaverse.
The world’s first Metaverse-enabled customer service centre was launched in January of last year in Dubai, under the direction of the UAE Ministry of Health and Community Protection (MOHAP).

The service centre is so efficiently designed that it easily meets customer requirements in 3D space, providing them with interactive and digitally immersive sensory experiences at the same time. The patients also have the power to enter the world of Meta Health and chat with any real person in the Customer Satisfaction center.
