Some momentum was noticed in the fund stolen from one of the largest DeFi attacks on the Ronin Network. The on-chain data linked to addresses used in the exploitation shows that the attacker moved around 1,400 Ether to Tornado Cash.
As per the data source, the main Ethereum address used in the attack transferred over 2,001 ETH in two different transactions on separate addresses entitled “Ronin Bridge Exploiter 8” on the Etherscan.
In the next step, the attacker moved nearly 1,400 ETH to Tornado Cash to drain money through 14 different transactions, whose valuation as per the current market price is more than $4.9 million.
However, the hackers left 600 ETH in the Exploiter 8 wallet address. After the final settlement, the main Ethereum wallet used in the attack contains 173,000 stolen ETH, which is still around $607 million.
Most hackers use the Tornado Cash privacy tool to wash illicit crypto funds from the hacking. The tool divides the on-chain link between a source and destination address. This allows hackers to camouflage their addresses while converting illicit crypto funds into fiat.
Last month, Ethereum Sidechain for NFT game Axie Infinity, Ronin Network suffered an attack, in which its private key was compromised by hackers. The attack also infected Ronin validator nodes for Sky Mavis, the publisher of the popular Axie Infinity game, and the Axie DAO.
