Polygon Executes a Network Hard Fork Successfully

Layer 2 PoS blockchain Polygon successfully executes a network hard fork aimed to reduce the severity of gas spikes and address chain reorganizations (reorgs) in an effort to reduce time to finality.

The software upgrade occurred at 10:45 UTC (5:45 a.m. ET) on Tuesday. The network’s 100 validators were invited to vote in a poll to determine whether the network should undergo the proposed hard fork or not.

87% of the participating Polygon validator teams voted in favor of approval. Only 15 validator teams voted, which is exceedingly low given that the number of active validators is limited to 100.
