AssangeDAO generated a poll to decide the Veto power status for the “Assange Family”. If the majority of members confirmed the veto status for the “Assange Family” then they will be able to veto or reject any proposal that “they determine to be potentially harmful to Julian Assange or to his legal defense.”
On the basis of single-choice voting, the poll was started on March 1 and will end on March 4 at 6:11 AM. At the time of writing, over 88% of the majority members of DAO opted “Confirm” to enable veto power for the Assange Family.
The DAO was created with the Assange Family governance layer, which includes Gabriel Shipton, Stella Moris, and Jennifer Robinson. These three members are also “the DAO’s line of communication with Assange”.
At the request of the Assange Family, the DAO organized a poll to decide whether to give Veto power to them or not.
If Assange Family gets a decision in their favor in the poll then the ‘Consensus Unit’ and ‘Advisory Council’ terms will be replaced by “Assange Family” for the “sake of simplicity”.
In case of Veto approval, Assange Family will have to discuss publicly with the proposer before rejecting any proposal. Also, at least one family member must “ make a forum post to announce the veto”.
Also, in case of a contradictory decision of family members, the majority or 2 out of 3 will be honored and will consider it as the final decision.
However, they will not have control over the DAO’s treasury and will not be able to access DAO’s treasury without the consent of the DAO.
Pro & Cons of Veto For DAO
- Assange Family veto power will guarantee that the DAO cannot be manipulated
- Might create internal conflict in case of the family reject proposal raised by members
Before this AssangeDAO community made a decision to close $Justice tokens minting in the Poll.
