Pi Network Mainnet Checklist A Step-By-Step Guide

The Pi Network mainnet is the most awaited event among the 60 million-strong Pi community, known as the pioneers. The core team has announced the launch to happen in Q1 2025, and an important part for the launch is KYC. The team has also made Jan 31 the KYC deadline.

As KYC is extremely important for the mainnet launch to happen, which will enable users to get their hands on actual Pi coins after years of waiting and developers to build on the robust Pi blockchain on a large scale.

For those pioneers who haven’t completed their requirement part to get the best out of the mainnet launch, this guide will help you with what has to be done in three separate phases.

Phase 1: Setting Up Your Pi wallet

In the first phase, we will get a new wallet from Pi Browser and set it up to secure our Pi coins.

1. Download the PI Browser App:

The Pi Browser app is the central hub for accessing the Pi Network’s ecosystem, including your Pi Wallet and any other decentralized applications (dApps). If you haven’t already, download the app from the official iOS App Store or Google Play Store. This app is your go-to destination for interacting with the Pi Network Mainnet.

2. Create Your Pi Wallet

Your Pi Wallet will act as the secure home for your Pi coins on the Mainnet. This wallet is “non-custodial,” meaning you are the sole owner of your private keys. To create your wallet:

  • Open the Pi Browser.
  • Navigate to the wallet section.
  • Follow the prompts to generate your wallet and make note of your private key. Store this information securely, as losing it means losing access to your Pi.

3. Confirm Your PI Network Wallet

After creating your wallet, you’ll need to confirm ownership. This step ensures that your wallet address is correctly associated with your account. Open the checklist in the Pi app, which will display a “Not Confirmed” status until this step is completed.

Phase 2: Lockup Configuration and Account Security

Now that we have our wallet, its time to configure it and increase the security of our account.

1. Set Up Lockup Configuration

Locking up Pi is an optional step that allows you to set aside a portion of your balance for a fixed period. While this can increase your mining rate in the future, it is not mandatory.

However, interacting with the lockup settings, even if you decide to lock up 0%, is required for Mainnet migration. Note that your initial lockup decision will be binding until after your first mainnet transfer.

2. Secure Your Account:

Account security is critical in any online system, especially when dealing with cryptocurrency. Strengthen your account by:

  • Setting up two-factor authentication (2FA).
  • Verifying your email or phone number.
  • Following any additional security prompts in the Pi app.

The checklist will display a “New action required” message until these steps are complete.

Phase 3: Completing KYC and Migrating to Mainnet

Now all that’s left is to complete the KYC process and then migrate our coins to the mainnet so that upon the launch we don’t lose them.

1. Sign the Acknowledgement Agreement

To proceed, you must sign an agreement acknowledging that you understand the terms and conditions for receiving and using Pi tokens on the Mainnet. Take the time to read this document carefully.

2. Submit Your KYC Application

Know Your Customer (KYC) verification is a standard regulatory process to confirm your identity and prevent fraud. To complete this step:

  • Provide your identification documents (e.g., passport, ID card, or driver’s license).
  • Follow the instructions in the app to upload these documents and submit your application.

3. Wait for KYC Results

Once submitted, your KYC application will be reviewed by the Pi Core Team. The verification process can take some time, so patience is key. It can take a few days, so monitor your app notifications for any updates.

4. Migrate to Mainnet

After successful KYC verification, your Pi balance will automatically enter the migration queue. Once your turn arrives, your Pi coins will be transferred to your Mainnet wallet, completing the migration process.

Parting Words

The Pi Network Mainnet launch is awaited by millions. The migration process is a significant step toward unlocking the full potential of your Pi coins. Completing your KYC by the January 31 deadline is essential for ensuring your inclusion in the Mainnet and contributing to its development.

By following this step-by-step guide, you can ensure a smooth transition and secure your assets for future use. Remember to double-check each step in the Mainnet Checklist to avoid delays.
