Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy is excited about artificial intelligence (AI), believing it will help India’s tech industry to expand and grow, even though some worry that AI might slow down or cut jobs. In a recent interview, he shared that using OpenAI’s ChatGPT slashed his speech preparation time from 30 hours to just five, making his work much faster.
While some tech leaders fear AI could reduce jobs, calling it a rare and powerful technology, Murthy has disagreed with this. He has stated that the AI would not take jobs away. According to him, AI will create new jobs for people. He has emphasized that to use AI well, people need to ask clear questions and set specific goals for it.
As per the reports, he believes that the programmers and analysts will become better at solving tough problems with AI, and it will help the country’s tech industry to grow and innovate. His views match HCLTech’s CEO, C Vijayakumar, who has said that tech companies need to change their old ways to use AI effectively.
India’s $250-billion tech industry is facing slow growth and hiring fewer people, but Murthy sees AI as a helpful tool that will let companies work faster by making better products and reducing mistakes. His optimism comes as his family’s investment group, Catamaran, started a 20-year scholarship at IIM Ahmedabad to support the top MBA student each year, with funds protected against rising costs.
As big Indian tech firms like Infosys and HCLTech adjust to AI changes, Murthy’s support highlights a way to blend new technology with job growth. His personal use of AI tools like ChatGPT has strengthened his belief that AI will make India’s tech industry more efficient and ready for an exciting future by positioning India’s IT sector for a dynamic, AI-powered future.
