Everyone hates an overtly nagging roommate, or someone who just wouldn’t understand the concept of personal space, or someone who thinks it’s okay to finish their roommate’s ice cream stock.
Worse still, if roommates come from different spectrums of political ideologies, it’s not considered wise to have Karl Marx share space with Adam Smith.
To solve this problem, a young entrepreneur and former graduate from the University of Bristol has come up with an artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled platform, ‘Cribster’ that helps students find compatible roommates while they pursue their college degree.
Daniel Virin, a former student of Economics and Politics from Bristol University, has come up with Cribster website that uses AI to help you find compatible roommates.
The website checks the budget of people, where they want to stay, their values, hobbies, and daily habits, and then matches them. The purpose of this website is to make better use of available housing by filling empty rooms and to find a less stressful place to live for students.
As per the reports, Daniel Virin, an entrepreneur who created this website, Cribster, says that where one lives can greatly affect their university experience. He further added that the home should be a safe place where one feels comfortable; hence, they can relax from the stress of school. Â
But nowadays, the rush to find housing often leads students to choose bad properties or live with roommates who aren’t a good match for them. This rush can lead to arguments and tension among students. This challenge is especially tough for the first-year students who are still adjusting to university life and haven’t made close friends yet.
Daniel also notes that the desperation to find housing can make students straightforward targets for scams or harassment on platforms not designed for them.
