Crypto Price Today (April 22, 2025): Bitcoin Eyes $90k while XRP & SOL Lag, LEO Token Drops 6%

The price of Bitcoin has pumped above $88k today, with it eyeing to break the $90k mark in a steady rally. This renewed interest in Bitcoin has left most of the leading altcoins lagging behind as ETH, XRP and SOL failed to catch up with the leading cryptocurrency’s momentum.

After having a bullish weekly opening yesterday, Bitcoin has steadily gained during the past 24 hours and marked a new monthly high. Given that Bitcoin and the whole crypto market have traded sideways in the past two weeks, this pump was much anticipated by investors and traders, as it will now open the pathway to break above the $90k price mark.

At the time of writing, Bitcoin price is trading near $88,600 – up 2.12% in the past 24 hours. It has steadily and continually spiked from the daily low of $86,692 to as high as $88,638 with the 24-hour trading volume surging nearly 40% to $36.65 billion.

From the leading altcoins, ETH is trading near $1,630 while XRP is attempting to break above $2.10 – all showing declined investor confidence. Similarly, Solana (SOL), Tron (TRX) and Cardano (ADA) have also lost interest from traders while they are trading near key resistance levels.

The overall altcoin market has spiked decently today, with it sitting at a market cap of $1.01 trillion today.

On the top-gaining list, Fartcoin is in the lead, surging over 18% while it is followed by KAS, POL and STX with all spiking 14%, 11% and 10% respectively. Other daily gainers include KAIA, TAO, DEXE and BONK, which have surged nearly 5% in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, LEO is the top losing crypto today, with its price dropping 6%, followed by FIL, MOVE, ICP and CORE.
