The first quarter of 2025 has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride for artificial intelligence (AI) industry with major players like OpenAI, X, DeepSeek and Google launching their exciting tools and services. Of late, a fierce competition has ensued between OpenAI and China’s DeepSeek over AI dominance.

To stay ahead, OpenAI released innovative AI tools and features. The firm first launched o3 Mini, a free AI model that’s good at reasoning, like solving math or logic problems, which is now available to all its users.

OpenAI might release other new models soon, like GPT-4.1, which will be an improved version of their current model, o3 and o3 Pro , and o4 Mini by this week.

Based on recent talks by Sam Altman and Sarah Friar (OpenAI’s CFO), they might introduce a concept called an “agentic software engineer.” The result would be an AI that acts like a software developer, making it super easy to build apps or websites without needing to write code yourself.

Further, on 5th April, Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, recently shared that their next big AI model, GPT-5, won’t be released soon because they don’t have enough GPUs. This shortage happened partly because people went wild creating Studio Ghibli-style images with ChatGPT, which overloaded OpenAI’s systems. Therefore, its GPT-5 is unlikely to launch this week.

Additionally, OpenAI’s “o series” models, like o3 and o3 Mini, are special AIs designed to think like humans. They’re built to tackle tough problems, especially in areas like coding, solving complex equations, and reasoning by figuring out logical puzzles or making smart decisions. Further, Sam Altman has also hinted at launching Image Version 2.0 following the release of Ghibli Art.

On 27th February, the firm launched GPT-4.5, a smarter version of their language model that writes, answers questions, and understands things better than before.

Even two new AI tools that act like assistants. These tools can perform tasks for you and conduct in-depth research, sifting through vast amounts of information online to generate detailed reports.

Recently, on 26th March, the firm launched the image generation for its GPT-4o. Its GPT-4o model can now create pictures from text, such as illustrating your descriptions.

The firm has also rolled out globally after launching Ghibli art, a Japanese-style Studio Ghibli that can turn real-life images into Japan’s popular anime films.

Further, the firm has also launched a new feature for its ChatGPT-4o. This new feature is wonderful as it displays a picture of you as how you would look in your 60s and 70s. Further, Sam Altman has also hinted at launching Image Version 2.0 following the release of Ghibli Art.
