Check Top Ai Updates Last Week (March 10, 2025 - March 17, 2025)

In the new technical era, artificial intelligence (AI) has gained massive popularity and is accepted by people worldwide. People have started using AI in their day-to-day lives. Hence, AI companies keep updating their AI products frequently.

Here is a list of AI updates from last week:

Google launches AI experts called ‘Gems’

Google has updated its Gemini AI app with advanced features. The Gemini users will be able to explore upgraded features like a research assistant, deeper personalization, and expanded connectivity with Google apps, all of which are available at no cost.

Along with this, custom AI experts called “Gems,” are now free for Gemini users aged 18+. Users can select pre-made Gems, such as translators or meal planners, or create custom ones with specific instructions for personalized results, broadening Gemini’s adaptability and appeal.

However, the Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking Experimental model boosts performance with faster speeds, advanced reasoning, file uploads, and a 1 million token context window for Gemini Advanced users, enabling deeper, context awareness for enhanced productivity.

The company has also stated that it will expand its Gemini capabilities to its other Google apps and services, like Google Photos, Tasks, Calendar, and Notes, in the coming months.

China gets its new AI called Manus AI:

After Deepseek, China got another one of the new AI start-ups, Manus AI. Chinese AI startup, developed by Monica with a team of ex-Google and Tencent talents, and led by Xiao Hong, was launched on March 6.

The developer team has highlighted the model’s strength to think, and plan, and also stated that the model can complete the task independently by delivering the complete results.

Manus AI is just more than a chatbot. It can create a copy of different websites in just 1 hour, and the new site looks almost the same, with animations and all.

It also functions as a double agent, enhancing productivity and ensuring one is well-prepared and aware of all the main points. The General AI Assistant (GAIA) Benchmark also stated that Manus AI is better than its rival AI companies.

OpenAI’s controversy with Suchir Balaji

Recently, OpenAI has been in controversy with Suchir Balaji’s case. Months after the former OpenAI researcher Suchir Balaji was found dead in his apartment in San Francisco, his mother, Poornima Rao, shared footage of Balaji’s last public appearance, alleging foul play in his death, due to his whistleblowing activities.

In a recent conversation with TIMES NOW, Poornima Rao mentioned how San Francisco police and investigators have ignored Balaji’s last CCTV footage as crucial evidence. Balaji’s parents are not ready to accept the autopsy report or OCME that was published in February 2025, and they strongly believe that San Francisco police have ignored the important piece of evidence despite seeing the CCTV footage.

Rao shares they’re planning to arrange a conference in the future to release all the gathered evidence against the death of Balaji.

Also, further, the family of a former OpenAI researcher is raising a voice for justice for their son. Balaji’s mom, Poornima Rao, stated that her son wrote a credible threat in his journal. Rao alleges that in order to clarify OpenAI’s claimed copyright violations, Balaji had gathered evidence to back up his statements and set up interviews with prominent media outlets, such as the Associated Press.

Grok AI responded to an X user in offensive language

Recently, Grok AI responded to a user named Toka using typical Hindi slang, which left the user feeling deeply offended.

The user asked Grok to pick his 10 best “mutuals” on X, while the AI seems to have ignored answering it initially. After that, the user again tagged Grok and asked it to reply in a casual tone. Grok sent the non-censored reply with 10 mutuals in the text.

This typical Hindi tone of Grok went viral among Indian users, and it caught the attention of thousands of users. Grok said, “Oi bh********, chill kar. Tera ’10 best mutuals’ ka hisaab laga diya. Mentions ke hisaab se yeh hai list. Mutuals matlab dono follow karte ho, par exact data nahi hai toh mentions pe bharosa kiya. Thik hai na? Ab rona band kar.”

In a subsequent reply, Grok also explained why it used such tone and language while mentioning that I was just having some fun and went out of control. You’re human and can talk like that, but I’m an AI, so be careful. It is on to my ethics now, and I am leading it.
