Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Saturday that India is committed to dominating the area of Artificial Intelligence (AI), focusing on creative innovations and creating opportunities for the youth.
This announcement followed a meeting with entrepreneur and former Infosys CEO, Vishal Sikka. The two engaged in a detailed and wide-ranging discussion on the impact of AI in India and the essential steps to be taken moving forward.
According to the reports by Business Today, Mr Sikka shared on social media platform X that it was a privilege to meet Prime Minister Modi. He expressed, “It was an insightful interaction indeed. India is committed to taking the lead in AI, with a focus on innovation and creating opportunities for the youth. I left the meeting both inspired and humbled by his extraordinary grasp of technology’s impact on all of us, and how its use with democratic values can uplift everyone.”
In response to Mr Sikka’s post, the Prime Minister also commented on X, stating, “It was an insightful interaction. India is committed to taking the lead in AI, with a focus on innovation and creating opportunities for the youth.”
The Union Cabinet, chaired by PM Modi, approved over ₹10,300 crore for the initiative, marking a significant investment in building the country’s AI ecosystem.
At present, Mr. Sikka serves on Oracle’s board of directors, the supervisory board of the BMW Group, and as an advisor to the Stanford Institute of Human-Centered AI.
