Google Ceo Sundar Pichai Expressed His Concern Over Chagpt Becoming Synonymous To Ai As Google Is To Internet Search.

Tech Giant Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently organized a key year-ender strategy meeting with staff, wherein he discussed concerns over rival ChatGPT (owned by OpenAI) becoming synonymous to Artificial Intelligence (AI) as Google is to Internet search. Reportedly, Pichai also asked the Google staff to stay focused and agile for a “transformative 2025”.

According to a report in CNBC, google employees were told by Pichai to gear up for 2025 as the “stakes are going to be too high”, possibly stressing on promoting Gemini (Google’s AI product) against its major competitor ChatGPT. During the strategy meeting, Pichai also read questions asked by Google staff and one of them had concerns whether ChatGPT is set to become synonymous to AI as Google was to internet search.

During this meeting, the Google staff reportedly addressed the rise of the AI chatbot and Pichai expressed a strong desire for Google to maintain this position rather than allow OpenAI to take the lead. At the same time, he emphasized his confidence in Google’s ability to compete effectively against AI chatbots.

Pichai noted that the company’s focus for the upcoming year will primarily be on Gemini 1.5 for consumer applications. He presented a chart comparing large language models, highlighting that Gemini 1.5 outperforms OpenAI’s GPT and other competitors. Throughout the meeting, Pichai reiterated the importance of returning to the company’s foundational principles, emphasizing the need to build and ship products more quickly and to adopt a more agile approach.

The CNBC report further states that Google has plans to announce up to 20 new products this year, including an AI variant of Google Search. To ensure these AI features are ready on schedule, Google is implementing a fast-track review process called the ‘Green Lane’ initiative. This may involve allowing AI teams to review their work to better manage the associated risks. Looking ahead to 2025, the company aims to focus on mobilizing the benefits of AI technology to address real user problems. This will help Google compete in this area with its rivals.

The year 2025 is expected to be significant for AI developments, involving major players like OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, and various startups in the field of AI.
