Microsoft Reveals Its Ai Innovations Of 2024

Microsoft shared its growth of AI Innovation achieved this year and it has been “truly remarkable.”

In October this year, Institut Curie, a cancer research centre, joined forces with Microsoft and Witivio to build the Copilot for Researcher. The AI gives researchers a hand with tasks like handling administrative burden so that they have more time for crucial cancer research.

Siemens and Thyssenkrupp collaborated with Microsoft on the development of the Siemens Industrial Copilot. It was powered by Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service, and designed to bridge the skills gap in the manufacturing industry. Engineers used the copilot to program and operate machinery, improving productivity and reducing human error.

“From the beginning I was only speaking to it in English, but today I discovered it speaks German quite well,” said Marcus Schoenherr, a thyssenkrupp engineer.

In education, Shiksha, a smart tool powered by AI, has been introduced by Sikshana Foundation and Microsoft Research India. The tool helps teachers in Karnataka make lesson plans in only a few minutes. It greatly cuts down preparation time, letting educators spend more time connecting with students.

“The time saved by Shiksha, I’m spending with the kids,” said Ravindra K. Nagaiah, a teacher in Karnataka.

Additionally, AI is also improving the tourism experience in Rome. The city has a virtual assistant called Julia that helps visitors find their way to attractions and reduces crowds at popular places.

AI is also helping shrimp farmers In Indonesia keep their shrimp healthy. A local startup named eFishery has made an AI assistant that checks water conditions and ensures the shrimp in ponds are well.

In South Africa, Eduvos has used Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 and Azure to streamline its student enrollment process, reducing the time from 90 days to near-instantaneous. This transformation has saved both time and costs for the institution.

These examples show how AI is helping to solve real problems and improve lives in different areas. Microsoft keeps leading the way, making sure AI stays important for innovation around the world.
