Bloxroute Limits Transactions Tied To U.s. Sanctions List

BloXroute, a company that offers tools for decentralized finance (DeFi), has stated that it will decline to process transactions linked to addresses found on a U.S. sanctions list effective immediately.

In a statement made on Monday, bloXroute mentioned that its systems would no longer handle transactions involving addresses from the OFAC SDN list, which is a list of sanctioned individuals and entities.

This adjustment, according to bloXroute, won’t significantly impact the broader network but might slightly reduce their transaction success rate.

Despite this move, bloXroute emphasized that Ethereum’s core principles of being decentralized, globally distributed, and resistant to single-entity control remain intact.

They believe that the decentralized nature of Ethereum ensures its resilience against such actions.

However, the company’s decision has sparked debate. Some individuals on platform X have expressed concerns.

A user named Egor Egorov pointed out the potential contradiction in bloXroute’s actions, questioning whether the company prioritizes supporting Ethereum or adhering to regulations.
