Iconic fictional character Tarzan is stepping into web3, but not holding the hands of Disney this time. Australian digital fashion studio XLABEL and NFT marketplace X2Y2 team up to launch the Tarzan: Lord Of The Apes NFT Collection on March 28, 2023.
According to the announcement, 9999 Tarzan: Lord of the Apes NFTs will be available for 0.05 ETH ($88) each on March 28, 2023, to the allowlist members. Almost 6000 users are accepted to the allowlist at the moment.
On March 30, 2023, the public mint will commence for 0.06 ETH ($105) per NFT. All the PFPs will be revealed on April 03, 2023.
The Tarzan NFT collection was possible because of a new multi-year licensing agreement between XLABEL and the estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of Tarzan.
Unreal Engine will be compatible with the Tarzan NFTs which can lead to the character being incorporated into a variety of Epic Games store’s games.
XLABEL aims to expand the character into the metaverse through blockchain-based metaverse games, etc. The digital fashion studio also intends to launch digital wearables and other accessories.
Tarzan is conceptualized by XLABEL as a digital personality with a variety of uses, including as an influencer in social media, gaming, and modeling.
XLABEL CEO Brad Morris stated: “With Epic Games and Unreal, there are hundreds of games where Tarzan can integrate. Outside of that, there are lots of blockchain games that we’re going to be partnering with. The games are pretty much-gated experiences that will allow you to step in as Tarzan.”
The in-house designers at XLABEL collaborated with digital artist Skeeva to create Tarzan in about six months.
The Tarzan of the Web3 era represents the character’s upbringing before his parents set out on their tragic trek to Africa, featuring the origins of John Clayton II (Tarzan’s real name).
